QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT: NQF Level 6 Qualification related to Mining (Required); Blasting Certificate for Opencast Mines (Required); GCC Certificate Mine Overseer (Alternative).


  • Two (2) Years Operational Management Experience (Required);
  • Six (6) Years Drilling, Blasting, Loading, Hauling Operations Experience in an Opencast MiningEnvironment (Required);
  • Valid Code B Driving License (Required).


  • Behavioural: business acumen, leadership skills, relationship building skills, results driven personality and change management skills;
  • System Skills: Electronic Document Management System, Enterprise Resources Planning, Information Management Systems, Learning Management Systems (LMS), Microsoft Office, SHERQ Systems, Production Performance Management System (PPMIS)

  • Support and participate in sub-function change management to drive transformation and optimisation;
  • Ensure data integrity control;
  • Identify improvement initiatives and team recognition;
  • Implement compliance requirements;
  • Plan, direct and assess quality management;
  • Execute SHEQ programs;
  • Provide input into functional planning;
  • Implement operational plans;
  • Manage the efficient and effective utilization of resources;
  • Optimise the core operational internal processes and internal supply chain and resolve operational conflicts within the function;
  • Manage, control and improve production of mining operations, including contractor performance within the drilling and blasting function as well as load and haul function;
  • Provide input, implement and manage the functional budget;
  • Assess team relations and resolve problems;
  • Manage team development, training and performance;
  • Participate and contribute to the workforce planning process;
  • Plan, organise, lead and control subordinate’s activities to ensure sub-functional objectives are met or exceeded.
